About Me

My Name is Annika - Mie Racadio. I am The Head Baker and Owner of The Dark Side Bakery. We currently do cupcakes, cookies, breakfast pastries and cakes. I was born and raised here in sunny San Diego, CA, i'm a local girl, proud to be born and raised here, there's no place like home.

 

I went to Audubon Elementary, Keiller Middle School, Morse High School and graduated from Mark Twain High School, Go Class of 2007! I am a mom to a wonderful rambunctous and awesome taste tester 1 1/2 year old named Ayden and a wife to an amazingly supportive husband named Chris. 

 

I am currently going to The National Culinary Institute for Pastry Arts, I am pursuing my certificate to become a certified baker. I first decided to open up my own shop last year after years of encouragement from friends and family. I first fell in love with baking when i was about 8 years old when i helped create my own birthday cake. Ever since then i've fallen madly in love with baking and creating art out of food. One of my biggest inspirations is my maternal grandmother, she always believed in me and made me feel like i could do anything i wanted and achieve my dreams, no matter how big.

 

I chose The Dark Side Bakery as the name for my shop because I am drawn to the darker side of things, like zombies, horror movies, the grimm fairytales and of course my favorite holiday is Halloween. I specialize in custom decorated sugar cookies and cupcakes. I make everything from scratch with no preservatives and I use the freshest ingredients possible. I make sure everything i do is double and triple checked before being delivering to a customer. I am a perfectionist and if something isn't absoutely perfect, i re-do it and fix it until it is. 

 

I can guarantee that all of the desserts and sweets you get out of my bakery are going to be above and beyond your expectations.
